Hero shot: redesigned homepage

01 · Problem

A homepage doing too much at once

Eurobank's homepage carries a lot: personal and business banking, product discovery, login, and support all live on the same screen. For a first-time visitor, the most common tasks sit among everything else, so the page asks people to search before they can act.

The homepage asked visitors to hunt. Logging in, finding a product, and reaching support competed for the same attention, so people slowed down before they had begun.

02 · Research

Where the friction actually was

I started with a heuristic evaluation of the live homepage, noting where visibility of status, consistency, and error prevention broke down. I then reviewed how three other European banks structure their entry points and navigation, looking for patterns worth borrowing and traps worth avoiding.

The evaluation and the competitor review pointed to the same thing: navigation labels were broad, and the primary tasks had no clear home.

03 · Process

Rebuilding structure from tasks

From those findings I rebuilt the information architecture, grouping content by what a visitor is trying to do rather than by the bank's internal structure. I sketched low-fidelity layouts on paper, moved the strongest into wireframes, then built a mid-fidelity prototype using Eurobank's own published design system, so the work stayed grounded in what a team could actually ship.

04 · Solution

One clear priority per zone

The redesign gives the homepage one clear priority per zone. Login and quick actions sit where the eye lands first, product discovery follows in a calmer grid, and navigation is reorganised into task-based groups with plainer labels. Type and spacing follow the existing design system, so the page still feels like Eurobank, only easier to move through.

05 · Results

A prototype, and a way of working

Because this was a self-initiated study, the outcome is a mid-fidelity prototype and the reasoning behind it rather than production metrics. The clearest gain is structural: primary tasks now have an obvious place, and the navigation reads in the visitor's language. The project also became my reference for how I want to work: evaluate honestly, borrow carefully, and keep every decision traceable back to a reason.
